Symptoms like your hands going numb, the feeling that you can’t breathe, the thought that you are having a heart attack, the fear. The second hand of the clock is a great distraction tool you can easily focus on so you won’t concentrate on the overwhelming thoughts.

All of the feelings you are experiencing while doing this will still be there. You absolutely must stay focused with everything in you on that second hand. Repeat the process until the panic attack passes, and it will pass. If you keep on telling yourself this is just a panic attack and that you aren’t going to die will help alot too.

You can tell yourself things like I’ve been through this before and I know what to anticipate. This is only my mind pulling tricks on me, I’m going to make it though this. Find whatever you can to keep distracting yourself from the situation until the attack dies down.
