The History Of Bach Flower
Written by author on January 15th, 2010 in Health.
Dr. Bach, a well-known British physician and scientist, discovered his flower essences in the early 1930’s. Dr. Bach was keen on both conventional allopathic medicine and homeopathy. He found out that the process of his patients’ recovery had much in common with their emotional health and had a serious impact on their physical condition. Those patients who felt themselves happier seemed to recover quicker.
Dr. Bach was a bacteriology specialist but as soon as he started to ponder on the influence of his patients’ emotions, he became interested in the study of Dr. Hahnemann, who is thought to be the founder of the homeopathic medicine. Homeopathy is supposed to treat the patient “on the whole”, both his emotional and mental state. It is not focused on the separate symptoms. The result of Dr. Bach’s research was the development of seven nosodes to cure stomach diseases. A nosode is in fact a remedy made from a specimen with the definite pathology. The Bach nosodes were prepared from the bacteria discovered in the bowels. As long as Dr. Bach started to use these medicines when treating his patients (besides, they are still in use nowadays), he found out that he could choose the necessary curative nosode for the patient basing only on his emotional state.
Dr. Bach was very happy with the positive results obtained when using homeopathic medicines, but he was concerned about the fact that lots of the common homeopathic medicines were made from toxic matters (e.g. Mercury, Belladonna, different kinds of bacteria and so on). This was the reason to devote the efforts and do all his best to search the decision among the wonders of the surrounding nature. He was sure he would be able to find non-toxic remedies giving the same effect. In 1930 Dr. Bach left his profitable private practice in London and went on searching the remedy which would soon become famous under the name of Bach flower essences. He spent the next six years discovering and trying out those 38 Bach remedies we successfully use today.
Bach flower essences are not the magical “panacea”. There are different cases and the same treatment can give completely different results: both dramatic improvement within a few days and a long-termed treatment with an unexpected result. Depending on the treated disorder, the time the patient suffered from it, the patient’s confidence in the success of the treatment, the issue might be resolved in any time. This can be within a week or take even a year. But the general rule is the following: if a patient sees the results, he is more likely to recover quickly and believe in success. Those who hesitate might spend much more time to get rid of their problem.
